Thousand Oaks Moves on to Round 2
|
The Thousand Oaks Rabbits took time to celebrate with the Thousand Oaks fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Round 1 triumph over the Sarasota Sweeties.
Members of the Rabbits hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the Thousand Oaks fans in attendance at Spencer Grounds, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 2-1 win to seal the series 4-2.
"We've got great fan support," said center fielder Luis Garcia. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some Sarasota fans that were there even congratulated us on the win."
For the series, Garcia hit .350 with a .519 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
Things weren't so cordial on the Sweeties side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season.
The Thousand Oaks Rabbits will play against the Portland Pickles in the next round. Portland won their series against the Flint Coney Dogs 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
