Havana Defeated by Detroit, 1-0
|
The Detroit Pizzas ushered in the 2050 season with a win versus the Havana Sugar Kings at Pizzas Ballpark. The final score was 1-0. Starting Pitcher Ed Pike, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2044 draft, had a standout performance. The save was credited to George Liston, his 1st.
The Pizzas got a big at-bat from catcher Byron Brymer. For the game, Brymer was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Detroit a 1-0 lead.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Brymer.
