Though he had a terrific game, Steve Buffington could not prevent his team, the Waikiki Wayfinders, from absorbing a loss. Havana won the game, 6-4. Buffington was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Jorge Figueroa, who threw 106 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. With the loss, Waikiki sinks to 1-8.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Chris Burgos had a game-changing hit. The Sugar Kings catcher slammed a 2-run single off Danny Dudley, making the score 6-3, Havana.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Waikiki manager GM Yokotuna.
