In a tight contest between the Arizona Desert Storm and the Memphis Chicks, Kevin Spencer was the determining factor. The Arizona left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. The win was credited to 31-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Kern in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Gordon Krajancic took the loss. With the victory, the Desert Storm upped their record to 42-37.

Had Joe Gainey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gainey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Desert Storm.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Memphis manager John Griffin.
