Sudbury beat East Haddam at Bulldogs Ballpark, eking out a 4-3 win. The triumph was primarily due to center fielder Albert Bencomo. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Brett Richardson, who is tied for 7th in the FL in holds with 4, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-1. The losing pitcher was John Motz. Eric Barone earned his 16th save in 19 chances.
Bencomo had a timely hit for Sudbury in the bottom of the eighth. With Sudbury trailing 3-2, he turned a full count cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Sudbury.
East Haddam manager Joe Jankowski said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Sudbury now has a record of 41-40 with the win.
