Cossacks Take Down Archies, 10-9
Tony Cruz did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the St. Louis Archies from being beaten, 10-9, to the Kyiv Cossacks at Team2 Ballpark. Cruz was 2-2 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Adrian Ducote, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-3. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Evan King was credited with the save, his 9th in 13 tries.

Mike Bitzer hit a run-scoring triple off Jason Derrick in the top of the tenth, which put the Cossacks in front, 8-7. In addition to the triple, Bitzer had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.

"We had a chance to win," said St. Louis manager Terry Schneekloth, "but we didn't get it done."

The third-place Cossacks now have a win-loss record of 36-42.
