Yellowstone Edges Los Angeles, 1-0, Martinez Ks 9
|
Mike Martinez was outstanding against Los Angeles. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the AL in wins with 6, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Super Volcano 1-0 win. Ryan Podolsky earned the save, his 10th. The Kings, now 35-42, have lost 4 straight.
Martinez, who dominated for Yellowstone, earned the victory to move to 6-5. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 9. Los Angeles batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Martinez.
