Cossacks Get Extra-Inning, 3-2 Win
|
The Kyiv Cossacks, with some walk-off drama, delighted their fans at Kyiv Grounds.
Kyiv Cossacks starter Zachery DeShields turned in a sparkling performance against the Buffalo Buffalo, leading his team to a 3-2 win. The third-place Cossacks now have a win-loss record of 35-41.
Kyiv got a knockout punch from Andy Lester. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
During his postgame press conference, Cossacks manager Boris Lahutin told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
