Havana got a strong outing from Kwan-wuk Tae as the Sugar Kings defeated the Detroit Pizzas, 4-2, at Pizzas Ballpark. Kurat Feyzioglu was credited with the save, his 20th in 22 tries. The first-place Sugar Kings have a one-game lead in their division.

Havana took a 4-2 lead on Mike Hieronymus's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Hieronymus hit in the top of the eighth, left Detroit pitcher Vance Niec visibly frustrated.

In postgame comments to the Havana Today, Tae said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
