Sugar Kings Come Back Late to Top Pizzas, 6-5
Jose Caravaggio did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Detroit Pizzas from being beaten, 6-5, to the Havana Sugar Kings at Sugardome II. Caravaggio went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Havana reliever John Charles picked up the win to move to 5-1. Phil Beard suffered the loss. The second-place Sugar Kings are now 43-32, the Pizzas 45-32.

Chris Burgos was 1 for 2 with a walk for Havana. With no one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Burgos had a clutch at-bat. Facing Detroit hurler Vance Niec, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Sugar Kings a 5-4 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Burgos said.
