Olveda Batters East Haddam for 5 Hits
Even as a kid, Nick Olveda said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of East Haddam, Olveda showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 30-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Los Angeles Kings, helping his team knock off the East Haddam Hyenas by a score of 14-5.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."

Nick Olveda singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

In 67 games Olveda is hitting .249 this season with 66 hits, 8 home runs, 23 RBIs, 20 walks, .306 OBP and has scored 33 runs.
