Portland Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Portland Beavers moved to within one game of the League Championship, downing the Havana Sugar Kings, 3-1, in a tense, extra-inning affair at Beavers Park. Leading the way for the Beavers was left-hander Victor Velasco. He threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Beavers a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Divisional Series.
Portland got a knockout punch from Brett Heid. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This place sure got loud," said GM admiralballtr8s, the Portland manager.
The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 8th , 2049 at Sugardome II in Havana.
