Rory Shepard was at the head of a Kansas City Hepcats hit parade at Spokane Grounds. The 22-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Spokane Bulldogs that marched off with the 9-7 win.

"We didn't have it today," griped Hepcats skipper Paul Strzelczyk following the game. "Rory did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."

Shepard did more than fine, dominating the Bulldogs at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.

"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging second baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

Rory Shepard tripled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Shepard is batting at a .293 pace this season, picking up 27 hits in 92 at-bats with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
