Ducks Heading to Round 2
|
The championship aspirations of the Long Island Ducks are still alive and well, while the Sheboygan Bratwurst are left to wait until next year.
Long Island won the clinching game of the Round 1 9-1 over Sheboygan at Bratwurst Park, to win the series 4-2.
"You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said center fielder T.J. Essmann, who paced the Long Island offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit."
Essmann claimed the MVP by racking up 11 hits for a .393 average, with a .393 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The Long Island Ducks will play against the Long Beach Paradise in the next round. Long Beach won their series against the Jacksonville Alligators 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
