Paradise Advance to Round 2
|
The Round 1 may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Long Beach Paradise, however, are not complaining.
The Paradise were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Rhome Rhavioli to advance to the Round 2.
Long Beach won the final game by a 5-3 count at Paradise Ballpark and the series 4-1.
Paradise first baseman Reynaldo Sanchez was named series MVP, as he hit .450 with a .450 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.
"It's not going to be the last time Rhome makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Sanchez said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."
The Long Beach Paradise will play against the Buffalo Red Sox in the next round. Buffalo won their series against the Jacksonville Alligators 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
