Empire Come Back Late to Top Hyenas, 4-2
The New York Empire faced a tough opponent in East Haddam pitcher Rocco Sarretti, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of East Haddam by a final score of 4-2. Sarretti went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs. Picking up the win was Jason Sumrall. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 1. Earning his 16th save of the year was Alberto Perea.

New York used the clutch hitting of Luis Cantu to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Empire ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

After the game, New York manager Jim tstols applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

New York now owns a record of 34-39.
