Thibault Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
The Eugene Exploding Whales stopped the Sarasota Sweeties by a score of 12-5 at Whales Field, with the lion's share of the credit going to starting pitcher Jeff Thibault. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Thibault said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Thibault did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Sweeties.

"Not much that I can say," offered Sarasota manager David Lewis. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Jeff Thibault singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Willie Soto in the 7th.

This year, Thibault has a 5-8 record with a 4.15 ERA in 23 starts.
