Desert Storm Suffer 6-3 Home Defeat
|
Good production from designated hitter Carlos Jimenez helped the Waikiki Wayfinders topple the Arizona Desert Storm, 6-3. Jimenez went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Wayfinders. Jon Flint, the winning pitcher, is now 4-7. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 2. Geoff Seitz wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Waikiki used a clutch at-bat from Jeff Johnson to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wayfinders ahead, 6-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It was a solid team effort," said Johnson after the game.
Waikiki has 3 straight wins, Arizona 3 straight losses.
