The Portland Beavers beat the Havana Sugar Kings, 9-5, at Sugardome II. The win was due in part to center fielder Matt Lamons, who went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Havana drops to 4-4.

Marco Estrada was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles for Portland. The fan favorite had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring single off Kwan-wuk Tae. It was his 10th hit of the season.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Estrada. "You've got to get results."
