Cossacks Deal Memphis 5-4 Defeat
The Kyiv Cossacks knocked off the Memphis Chicks, 5-4, in Federation League action at Russwood Park. Kyiv pitcher and Ft. Worth, Texas, native Zachery DeShields had an outstanding performance. DeShields picked up the win for Kyiv, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 8-4. The win puts Kyiv at 37-30 this season.

Kelvin William had a big solo home run for the Cossacks in the top of the seventh inning. With Kyiv leading 4-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Alex Watkins, who is tied for 10th in the FL with a 9.0 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Cossacks on top, 5-1.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Memphis manager Aaron Lazier.
