The New York Empire did just enough to secure a victory over the Los Angeles Kings, 4-3, at Sportsman's Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Melvin Verdin. New York has now won 3 in a row.
Andrew McGrath, the 29-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. McGrath contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 3-2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said New York manager Jim tstols.
