Desert Storm Take Tight Tangle
|
Arizona picked up a win at Desert Storm Stadium, bumping off the Waikiki Wayfinders, 4-3. Pitcher Ron Cook was a major reason the Desert Storm emerged victorious. Cook, now 4-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Terry Donohue, who finished 2nd in the FL in saves with 41 last year, earned the save for Arizona.
Arizona took a 4-3 lead on Bobby Garcia's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Garcia hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Waikiki pitcher Tim Pettit visibly frustrated.
Arizona manager GM Fetty commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Arizona is 36-30 and Waikiki, with the loss, 22-43.
