Los Angeles Topples Havana, 3-1
|
The Los Angeles Kings beat the Havana Sugar Kings, 3-1. Los Angeles pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Kevin Feltes led the way. Feltes, now 6-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jim Davis was called on to finish, recording his 18th save.
The Sugar Kings had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Kings going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old first baseman Dave Martinez came to the plate. Martinez hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch changeup from Havana hurler John Hoover. It was Martinez's 12th double of the year.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Feltes said after the game.
After today's action, Los Angeles sits at 32-32, while Havana falls to 34-32.
