The Detroit Pizzas locked up a win at Volcano Ballpark, knocking off the Yellowstone Super Volcano, 3-2. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Jesse Reitz. He played a major role in the triumph. George Liston was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 16 save opportunities. Detroit now sits at 34-30, while Yellowstone falls to 30-35.
Detroit used a well-timed hit by Kevin Thompson to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pizzas ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.
