Cossacks Down 92's, 6-5
|
The Kyiv Cossacks topped the Saskatchewan 92's by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Edwin Aguilar. Aguilar went 4 for 7 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Cossacks. The winner in relief was Josh Sheppard. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The save went to Jurg Lamekin, number 1 for him.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 14th, until Aguilar delivered big-time for Kyiv, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Garrett Douglas. The game-changing hit put the Cossacks on top, 6-5.
"It was terrific getting this win," Aguilar said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The Cossacks now have a record of 27-37 with the win over Saskatchewan.
