Los Angeles Sent Home with 5-2 Loss
|
San Antonio Aztecs starter Justin Kowalick turned in an exceptional performance against the Los Angeles Kings at Estadio Azteca, resulting in a San Antonio win, 5-2. The winning pitcher was Kowalick, now 6-4. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 4. Art Madsen earned the save, his 16th, for the Aztecs.
Andres Jaquez had a big 2-run home run for the Aztecs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Antonio leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from Jeremy Valentine and swatted a home run to left. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aztecs ahead, 4-0.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Kowalick.
The last-place Kings now sit at 27-35.
