Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Waikiki Wayfinders were eager to watch Richard Arocha square off against Spencer Hay of the visiting St. Louis Archies. In the end, the Archies won the game, 6-2, with Spencer Hay leading the way. Hay yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-0.

St. Louis center fielder Albert Salgado contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Archies ahead, 4-0.
