St. Louis got a big-time effort from pitcher Spencer Hay, but it wasn't enough to keep the Arizona Desert Storm from winning the game, 4-2. Hay threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. Ivan Chavez picked up his 1st save of the season. The setback makes St. Louis 46-15.

Arizona used the timely hitting of Joe Gainey to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Desert Storm on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Gainey called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
