Fans watched the St. Louis Archies and the Memphis Chicks fight to the finish.

Memphis left fielder Sam Clark had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-8, to St. Louis in 10 innings. Clark went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. The first-place Archies sport a record of 36-22.

St. Louis won the game in part because of David Funk. The catcher ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Archies ahead, 9-8. For the game, Funk had 2 doubles and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We had a chance to win," said Memphis manager Aaron Lazier, "but we didn't get it done."
