Sugar Kings Come Up Short at Buffalo, 6-5
|
Buffalo center fielder Omar Gallegos left his mark on his team's 6-5 win over the Havana Sugar Kings. Gallegos went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Buffalo in the contest. Buffalo pitcher Andy Pittman earned the win, hiking his record to 7-4. Eric McKinney suffered the loss. The defeat makes Havana 84-78.
Gallegos contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Buffalo in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Gallegos took a splitter from Eric McKinney and stroked the home run to center. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Buffalo to leap in front, 6-3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Buffalo manager Jim Punk42ae.
