Dublin used a superb performance from starting pitcher Juan Gonzalez to down the Kyiv Cossacks, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Gonzalez, now 11-11. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. The third-place Porters now sit at 72-89.
Victor Ruiz had a big 2-run home run for the Porters in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Dublin leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Zachery DeShields, who is tied for 4th in the FL in complete games with 2, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Porters on top, 3-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Boris Lahutin.
