In a low-scoring contest between the St. Louis Archies and the Arizona Desert Storm, Shuhei Ouchi, who is tied for 4th in the FL with a 3.52 ERA, proved to be the difference. The St. Louis left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Archies win. St. Louis pitcher Landon Paulick got the win, upping his record to 8-2. Terry Donohue got the loss. St. Louis now has a record of 104-57 with the win.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when first baseman Brian Cifelli, who finished 4th in the FL in home runs with 43 last year, hit a solo home run. The Archies went on to win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Cifelli said in his postgame press conference.
