Sugar Kings Turn Back Detroit, 6-4

The Havana Sugar Kings polished off the Detroit Pizzas by the score of 6-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to designated hitter Cesar Lopez. Lopez was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Sugar Kings. John Hoover earned the win to go to 13-11. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The second-place Pizzas now sit at 90-71.
There was more than one reason the Sugar Kings beat the Pizzas, but Lopez's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
Lopez told a Havana News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
