Pizzas Handle San Antonio, Snag 4-2 Win
|
The Detroit Pizzas locked up a win at Estadio Azteca, knocking off the San Antonio Aztecs, 4-2. On the mound for Detroit was left-hander Brad Riddick. He played a major role in the triumph. Riddick, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. George Liston picked up his 5th save of the season.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Tony Fuentes to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pizzas on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Detroit manager Evan Compton said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
Detroit now sits at 36-23, while San Antonio falls to 28-32.
