Cossacks Come Back Late to Top Porters, 7-4
|
The Kyiv Cossacks defeated the Dublin Porters, 7-4. Second Baseman Noah Abitia deserved a large share of the credit. Abitia was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 for the Cossacks. Jimmy Gold was credited with the save, his 30th in 38 tries. Kyiv bumps their record to 76-83 with the win.
In the bottom of the eighth, Kyiv center fielder Mike Bitzer gave his team the lead. With one out and the bases loaded, Old Blue hit his 28th double of the year. Dublin pitcher Eddie Lomeli surrendered it. With that, the Cossacks jumped in front, 5-4.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Kyiv manager Boris Lahutin.
