Porters Win at Yellowstone, 6-1
|
Dublin Porters starter Ben Verville turned in a top-notch performance against the Yellowstone Super Volcano at Volcano Ballpark. The result was a win for the Porters, 6-1. Picking up the save was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Casey Burgess. Dublin, at 28-29, holds down second place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
Tied up with the Super Volcano in the top of the fifth inning, the Porters got a boost from right fielder Gary Hilbert. With the bases loaded, Hilbert saw a 2-1 fastball from Billy Sweeney and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Dublin on top, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, it's about putting up zeros," said Verville.
