Hanoi Downs Brooklyn, 3-1
|
Starting pitcher Aaron Wierzba gave the Hanoi Dragon Warriors a rock-solid effort. The Westerly, Rhode Island native helped his team defeat the Brooklyn Knights, 3-1, at The Nest. The current losing streak for Brooklyn has reached 5 games.
The Knights had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Dragon Warriors going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Jamie Williams came to the plate. Williams hit a 2-run double on a 0-2 fastball from Brooklyn hurler Ray Totino. It was Williams's 46th double of the year.
Williams said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
