Bulldogs Ballpark hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Luis Espinoza pitched well, but the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the East Haddam Hyenas at Bulldogs Ballpark. The win was credited to Justin Kennedy in relief. His record improves to 8-10. Luis Espinoza took the loss.
In the top of the ninth, 26-year old first baseman Jeremy Plummer delivered for East Haddam. That's when he belted a solo home run, putting the Hyenas up, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a climactic one.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Hyenas manager Joe Jankowski. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
With the win, the Hyenas have a record of 64-92.
