Ashcraft, who leaned on his cutter, allowed 1 run on just 2 hits over 6.1 innings for the Hyenas. For the most part, Osaka hitters were simply overmatched.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said East Haddam manager Joe Jankowski.
