Pizzas Rally Late to Nip Dragon Warriors
Hanoi got a terrific performance from pitcher Aaron Wierzba, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Pizzas. Detroit won the Pizzas Ballpark contest, 3-2. Wierzba threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Ken Standifer, 5-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The Pizzas are now 80-76.

The Pizzas got a clutch hit from first baseman Rich Ostapowicz. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Pizzas.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Ostapowicz.
