Archies Get Clutch Win Versus Sudbury
|
Shuhei Ouchi, who is a two-time All-Star, had a strong outing for the St. Louis Archies against the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs at Team2 Ballpark. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Jesus Gutierrez, who leads the FL in saves with 44, was the winner in relief. His record is now 13-2. The losing pitcher was Derrick Bergdahl. The first-place Archies improved to 97-58.
The decisive blow was delivered by Aaron Kaplan in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Derrick Bergdahl to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.
Kaplan called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
