Porters Suffer 8-1 Road Loss
|
Saskatchewan 92's starter Kevin Spencer turned in an exceptional performance against the Dublin Porters at Stadium 92, resulting in a Saskatchewan win, 8-1. Spencer, now 7-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Fernando Gonzalez converted his 1st save in 3 tries.
J.P. Slater had a big run-scoring double for the 92's in the bottom of the second inning. With Saskatchewan leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Andy Pittman, who is tied for 9th in the FL in wins with 13, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 56th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the 92's ahead, 3-1.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Spencer.
With the win, Saskatchewan upped its record to 81-74.
