The Osaka Takoyaki rode a solid performance from 35-year-old starting pitcher Danny Pantoja to a win, beating the East Haddam Hyenas, 6-1, at Ballpark of East Haddam. The winning pitcher was Pantoja, now 12-10. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. The win puts Osaka at 79-76 this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Mark Radford? The Osaka catcher had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Takoyaki on top, 2-0. For the game, Radford had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Said losing manager Joe Jankowski: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
