Phil Beard pitched a gem to lead Detroit to victory over the Hanoi Dragon Warriors, 5-1. Bill Arellano picked up the save for Detroit, his 8th of the year. The Pizzas are now 79-76.

The Pizzas got a big at-bat from right fielder Jose Caravaggio. For the game, Caravaggio was 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 7th triple of the season gave Detroit a 3-1 lead.

"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Beard told the Detroit Times. "And padding the Detroit win column."
