The Memphis Chicks downed the Lansing Red Storm, 6-1, at Russwood Park. Stellar pitching by Alex Watkins had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the FL in complete games with 4, handcuffed his opponent all game. Watkins got the win, improving to 9-10. He gave up 9 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. Memphis is now 74-80, Lansing 56-98.

Memphis took a 3-1 lead on Mike Hernandez's 24th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hernandez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Lansing pitcher Vicente Tejeda visibly frustrated.
