Beavers Win Pitchers' Duel, 2-1, Versus Kings
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Portland Beavers and Los Angeles Kings.
The Portland Beavers scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Los Angeles Kings at Beavers Park. Portland pitcher Sam Davis held his own in the contest. The winning pitcher was Davis, now 8-11. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Tony Orellana picked up the save for Portland, his 36th of the year.
Luke Spradley, who is a three-time All-Star, took Los Angeles hurler Jon Avery deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Beavers on top, 2-1. In all, Spradley had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Tough loss," said Los Angeles manager Jim KP. "The kind that burns a little inside."
The Beavers are now 72-82.
