8-6 Win Sends St. Louis to 96-57
|
The first-place St. Louis Archies picked up another win.
Orlando Cuenca did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs from being beaten, 8-6, to the St. Louis Archies at Team2 Ballpark. Cuenca went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Jesus Gutierrez earned the save, his 44th, for the Archies.
Danny Cuello had a big bases-clearing double for the Archies in the bottom of the seventh inning. With St. Louis leading 5-4 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Nate Yarbrough, who leads the FL in holds with 24, and swatted a double to left. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Archies ahead, 8-4.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said St. Louis skipper Terry Schneekloth.
With the win over Sudbury, the Archies improved to 96-57.
