San Antonio Sent Home with 5-2 Loss
|
The Detroit Pizzas knocked off the San Antonio Aztecs, 5-2, in Alliance League action at Pizzas Ballpark. Detroit pitcher and Sweet Home, Oregon, native Brad Riddick had an outstanding performance. Riddick picked up the win for Detroit, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 11-10. Jose Giminez got the save, the 24th for him this season.
The Aztecs had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pizzas going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old first baseman Tony Fuentes came to the plate. Fuentes hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from San Antonio hurler John Griese. It was Fuentes's 6th home run of the year.
Fuentes attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The Pizzas improved their record to 80-73 with the win over San Antonio.
