In a tight contest at Beavers Park, the Los Angeles Kings edged the Portland Beavers by the score of 7-6. Los Angeles left fielder Mike Bitzer, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Earl Alexander in relief. His record improves to 5-5. Jeff Thibault took the loss. With the win, Los Angeles goes to 74-79, while the Beavers fall to 71-82.

Bitzer had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Jeff Thibault, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Kings a 6-5 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Bitzer.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Portland manager GM bigbluex02. "But we decided not to take it."
