East Haddam Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss
The first-place Kyiv Cossacks picked up another win.

In a tight contest between the Kyiv Cossacks and the East Haddam Hyenas, Travis Provenza was the determining factor. The Kyiv right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-0 win. Kyiv reliever Travis Provenza got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Justin Madsen was tagged with the loss. Jerry Acheson recorded his 1st save for Kyiv.

The Hyenas had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Cossacks going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time Great Glove Award winner Chris Nicotra came to the plate. Nicotra hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 changeup from East Haddam hurler Justin Madsen. It was Nicotra's 41st home run of the year.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Nicotra. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."

At 79-73, the Cossacks find themselves in first place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
