Knights Hand Pizzas 5-2 Loss
|
Brooklyn turned a fine outing from starter Alex Smith into a victory over the Detroit Pizzas at Pizzas Ballpark. The final score was 5-2. Picking up the save was John MacMullen, his 7th. The first-place Pizzas dropped to 88-64.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Pedro Almanza to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Knights on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Alex pitched his heart out," said Brooklyn manager Enoch Tang.
