Sugar Kings Suffer 4-1 Road Loss
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Havana Sugar Kings and Brooklyn Knights get after it.
Art Madsen, who finished 3rd in the AL in wins with 15 in 2047, imposed his will on the Sugar Kings from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Brooklyn triumph. Madsen got the win, improving to 6-6. He gave up 3 hits and walked 5 over 5 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Josh Deere had a big run-scoring double for the Knights in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Brooklyn leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Fedya Nosov and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 35th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 3-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Brooklyn manager Enoch Tang. "It's usually not just one thing."
With the win, Brooklyn upped its record to 81-67.
