Super Volcano Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Cossacks, 6-1
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Yellowstone Super Volcano and Kyiv Cossacks.
The Yellowstone Super Volcano picked up a win at Kyiv Grounds, dropping the Kyiv Cossacks, 6-1. Mike Martinez, who is tied for 9th in the AL in complete games with 1, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Martinez, now 13-7. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 11.
Yellowstone used the clutch hitting of Caspar Nash to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Super Volcano ahead, 1-0. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"Mike works, he fights, and he keeps a good attitude," said Super Volcano manager GM AtticaOnline.
Yellowstone is now 90-56.
